Commitment and solidarity - Swiss aid in time of war (1936 – 1945)
by Maria Ojuel (Oct 12, 2024)
The exhibition Commitment and solidarity. Swiss aid in time of war (1936 – 1945) is taking place in the Delegation of the Catalan Government in Switzerland from September 17 to October 30, 2024.
This exhibition has been created by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Barcelona on the occasion of its 175th anniversary. The exhibition traces the lives of twenty-three Swiss men and women who found themselves at the center of the Spanish war and World War II, actively participating in humanitarian aid from different contexts. At least 12 of them were SCI members. The main objective of this exhibition is to raise public awareness of the relevance of acts of solidarity, while also highlighting their protagonists, among whom there is a large number of women, who have often been relegated to a secondary role in historical accounts or even erased from history.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rue Rousseau 38, 1201 Geneva. More information here.
